Tips for drivers and those planning to buy a car

So, you have decided to find and purchase a vehicle at insurance auctions. First of all, find a reliable platform. We personally work with Copart, Avto-1, IAAI, Impact, Manheim, and British Car Auctions. It all depends on the country from which you want to ship the car.

Next comes the ownership documentation.

Please note that not all documents allow you to arrange export services and ship a vehicle from the USA, Canada, or Europe.

Speaking about cars from the USA, export can be arranged for vehicles with the following documents:

Clean Title – issued for vehicles without damage or with minor damage.

Salvage Title – the most common certificate seen at auctions. It indicates that the vehicle was declared a total loss and is issued if the car was involved in an accident, stolen, or affected by natural disasters or severe weather conditions (for example, hail damage).

Rebuildable Salvage Certificate – eligible for restoration. This certificate is issued only after purchasing a vehicle with a Salvage Title.

Certificate of Destruction – similar to a Salvage Title, issued in cases of more severe damage.

Non-Repairable – vehicles that cannot be repaired for further registration in the USA. They are attractive for export outside the USA, as they are usually sold at significantly lower prices.

Rebuilt Title/Restored/Reconstructed – vehicles that initially received a Salvage Title but were later fully restored and repaired. Vehicles marked with this status should be carefully checked: review the history and order an additional inspection. Sometimes defects do not appear immediately, and you may need to spend considerable funds on repeated restoration. Therefore, we recommend avoiding experiments with such certificates, especially if you are just starting to explore auctions.

Please note: the documents listed below DO NOT serve as grounds for vehicle export.

Bill of Sale (BOS) – a sales receipt for the vehicle, not a certificate.

Junk Receipt/Junk Certificate – disposal certificate.

Parts Only – for parts only.

No Title Letter – no certificate available.

Dismantle or Scrap – dismantling or scrapping.

Scrap Certificate of Title – scrap (metal recycling) certificate.
